Administrative HistoryThe original Library Committee was tasked with considering all matters relevant to the running of the library and archives, including purchase, loan and disposal of library material, exchange with other bodies, acting as a user group, proposing any improvements/alterations to library accommodation, facilities, staffing and budget, and proposing annual library plans and budgets. It was abolished in 2012 and replaced by the Publications and Information Committee (PIC).

In 2013 a new Library Users Group (LUG) was set up as a reporting committee of the PIC to advise on: potential new Library initiatives; the development and promotion of the Library’s collections; the development of e-resources; the information needs of on-site and remote Library users. LUG also oversees the effective communication of Library policy and initiatives to Library users with the aim of acting as a user group, to support the development of Library services and public engagement activities and to encourage the conservation and preservation of the archive, map and historical collections.
