Description'Pewter' tankard engraved with the Society's initials, its motto and date of establishment. Described as a Britannia Metal tulip shaped pint mug made by Cooper Bros & Sons Ltd of Don Plate Works, Arundel Street, Sheffield after 1969 (based on maker's mark on base).
Administrative HistoryProduced by the Society c.1973/1974 as part of a series of events to raise the profile of the Society amongst Fellows and raise funds [under the auspices of the Promotions Co-ordinating Committee.] It is unclear if the sales of the tankard contributed much financially. [Information from Prof Alec Kenyon-Smith, Treasurer, 1971-1977.]
ProvenanceOriginally owned by Fellow John Guthrie Essame, one of two acquired by Stuart Baldwin from Jenny Hayward in 2012.
