Administrative HistoryAccording to Burnell the first modern artesian well was sunk by M. Murlot [?Mulot] at the Abbatoir of Grenelle in Paris in 1832 which took eight years to complete. The well of Passy in Paris was sunk by M. Kind which were begun in 1857.
