DescriptionSix small hand coloured etchings/engravings of scenes around Piccadilly, comprising:

1) 'The Duke of York's Column, Athenaeum and United Service Clubs, Pall Mall', London, [after 1834].
2) 'Piccadilly, London, Middlesex', [c.1840]
3) 'Burlington House, about 1700', initialed 'WP', taken from Cassell's 'Old and New London', [?1870s]. Print shows the original Burlington House with the gardens and land surrounding it.
4) 'A View of Burlington House and Albany, in Piccadilly', published by J Asperne at the Bible, Crown & Constitution, 1 Dec 1804. Taken from the 'European Magazine'.
5) 'Burlington House, Piccadilly', engraving by T Cleghorn after drawing by Thomas H Shepherd. [1830s-1850s?]. Print shows the Palladian style building construced in c.1731.
6) 'New Burlington House', engraved by G Greatbach, taken from Cassell's 'Old and New London', [?1870s]. Shows the frontage of the new wings constructed between 1873-1874.

Administrative HistoryThe United Service Club moved the the John Nash building in Pall Mall in 1828, the Duke of York's Column was completed in 1834.
ProvenancePrints 1-2 were given to the archives by Facilities Manager, 6 February 2019, had previously been on the walls of the Society. Nos 3-6 were framed and displayed in the Lower Library as part of the Bicentenary refit in 2007. They were removed from the walls in 2019 in order to display portraits which had previously been in the Arthur Holmes Room.
