| Arrangement | On original catalogue card, the archivist has indicated that the print was intended for the second volume of William Buckland's 'Reliquiae Diluvianae', but there is nothing on the image to indicate this other than it being by the same artist and printer. Unlike the other prints in this series, there is a reference to its donation by Egerton. Additionally there is a record in the 'Proceedings...' of 1834 of Buckland reading a communication from Egerton entitled 'On the ossiferous caves of the Hartz and Franconia" with plans for a published paper on the subject - see: GSL/COM/P/4/2/60. However, the original Museum arrangement had all the images in this series together, therefore the print is included with the others. |
