| Administrative History | The date of the caption seems to relate to the production of the print rather than the discovery of the fossil. The specimen was first described and figured by Jukes in 1829, but the print was not mentioned. Both print and specimen were cited in Murchison's 'Silurian System' (1839, p657), where the specimen was named. It was described in 1978 as the lectotype of Bumastus barriensis. |
