DescriptionBound Tract volume containing material on meteorology, comprising:

1) Two, small printed meteorological tables 'Extracted from the Register kept at Kinfauns Castle, N Britain", for 1814 and 1815.
2) Mss booklet 'Memorandum of thermometer (farenheit) at Lochnell House latitude 56° 31° in the years 1818-1819, 1820, 1821, 1822, 1823', [1824].
3) Barometer and thermometer scale for Kinfauns Castle for the year 1814, [1815].
4) Printed meterological table for St John's, Newfoundland, [Canada] by Joseph Templeman of the Colonial Secretary's Office, Newfoundland, entitled, 'Table shewing the mean temperature, as also the mean height of the Barometer in each month in 3 1/2 years, ending June 1837 - with the extremes of each, and the days on which such extremes occurred', [1837].
5) Mss booklet, 'Hudson's Bay. Journal of weather at Nelson's Encampment [Seal Islands], near York Fort for the winter of 1811-1812', made by Abel Edwards, surgeon to the settlement, [?1811-1812]. Annotated 'Refer to the Council. Read 20 May 1814'. [Refers to the paper: "Notes concerning the Geology of part of North America, lying to the west of Hudson's Bay, extracted from various papers presented to the Society by Earl of Selkirk", published in Transactions of the Geological Society, S1-5 (1821) pp 598-608.]

Administrative HistoryIn the 19th century, the Library collection covered much wider subjects than it does now. Meteorology was one topic which was collected, however most of the non-geological material began to be disposed of from the 1930s. These items are rare survivors of the cull.
