Description | File mostly concerning the administration of the Sir Peter Kent Lecture, 1995-2001. The series is very incomplete but does include information on Sir Peter Kent and the speakers and their topics, notably: audio recording of the lecture 'Is there a proper place for geology in the planning process', given by the Rt Hon John Selwyn Gummer, Secretary of State for the Environment, 10 November 1997; copy of presentation 'Realising the value of scientific knowledge - geosciences in energy industries', delivered by Mark Moody-Stuart, Chairman, Royal Dutch/Shell Group, 9 November 2000. |
Provenance | Most of the file was transferred to the Archives by Nic Bilham (who received it from Ted Nield whose administrative file it was), in August 2011. The audio recording was found amongst the backlog of uncatalogued material. |
Appraisal | Much of the file did contain brief responses from public figures, such as MPs, declining invitations to attend. These have been removed. |
