DescriptionCorrespondence and papers relating to the meetings of the Council of the Geological Society, November 1941-July 1945. Notably contains: membership resignations; notices of decease; a small number of membership applications; nominations for Council; detailed nominations for awards & medals, and subsequent thankyou letters from winners; attendance list for Council members; staff resignations; committee reports; council agendas.

Papers for the 23 June 1943 contains letters from Lt Col L M Davies and Douglas Dewar complaining about a recent BBC series on evolution presented by D M S Watson, which they insist has not been definitively proved as a theory.

Papers for 19 January 1944 contains typescript statement by "The public relations committee on Post-War Recruiting of Geologists fo submission to the Ministry of Labour Committee on Higher Professional Appointments."
