DescriptionPapers relating to the move from Somerset House to Burlington House, 1856-1887. Comprises:

Correspondence, extracts of minutes and memoranda relating to the Society's application to the Government to be relocated to Burlington House, 1856-1859, includes draft list of rooms required by Charles Lyell, [?1856] and various lists of the dimensions of rooms and bookshelves at Somerset House compiled as an indication of the likely space required in the new accommodation, 1856; Copy correspondence, mostly between the Society and the Government, further pressing the case for the relocation to Burlington House, including rough memoranda of the dimensions desired in the new accommodation which was prepared for the architects Banks & Barry, 1859-1868;

Minutes, reports and letters of the special Burlington House Removal Committee containing requests for furniture, fixtures & fittings, insurance and reporting on the progress of the works, and latterly complaints about the poor ventilation of the new premises, 1872-1878;

Report to the House-cleaning Committee regarding modifications and estimates for decoration, 1887-1888.
