Administrative History | Plans for a European Geological Association were being discussed between 1976-1980 and had derived from the Meetings of the European Geological Societies (MEGS). However it was not until the 5th MEGS conference in Dubrovnik, Yugoslavia, October 1987 that the AEGS was formally established. The prime purpose of the AEGS was to strengthen links between the Geological societies of Europe, principally through the periodic MEGS conferences. |
