| Administrative History | When candidates were successfully elected as Fellows, they would pay an admission fee and sign, usually, a pre-printed form obligating themselves to promote the aims of the Geological Society of London. The Obligation Signature Books appear to have a similar function but instead are in register format. However there is evidence that some of the volumes were instituted retrospectively, that is created after the date of many members' or Fellows' original joining date. There are therefore significant gaps sometimes due to the predecease or other absence of members. |
