Administrative History | 'Non Resident' Fellows, that is members who lived outside a radius of 20 miles from London, initially only paid only a one off 10 guinea joining fee. At a Special General Meeting, 15 June 1859, all newly created Fellows after that date paid a uniform 6 guineas to join but Non Residents were subject to a reduced annual fee of £1 11s 6d. Another Special General Meeting on 1 March 1862 saw the Resident and Non Resident status abolished, with all Fellows paying a 6 guinea joining fee and an annual subscription of 2 guineas. However those Fellows who joined before 1862 were subject to the original agreements they had signed.
Compounding Fellows were those members who either paid a number of years' subscriptions or all of their fees upfront. |
