Administrative History | Junior Associate category of membership, aimed persons between the age of 18 and 23 years of age - essentially geology undergraduates - was first introduced in 1945. Junior Associates had to be recommended by two Fellows of the Society both of whom should be personally acquainted with the candidate. The names of candidates were placed before Council for approval. Junior Associates could attend Ordinary Meetings and Annual General Meetings of the Society but were not allowed to attend Special General Meetings, take part in any discussion relating to the management of the Society's affairs or vote. At the age of 21 they were eligible to be proposed as a full Fellow of the Society.
The early Junior Associates do not have membership numbers, and also do not appear in the main membership index. |
