Administrative History | The fossil in question is the Squaloraja found by Mary Anning in Lyme Regis around or before 1829. It was purchased from Mary Anning by John Nash/Naish Sanders who donated it to the Bristol Institution in 1831. A paper, by Henry Riley, was read before the Society on 15 May 1833. The final published paper uses a copy of Louis Agassiz's lithographic plate from his 'Recherches sur les Poissons' (1833-1843/4), (see Council Minutes, 9 March 1836 GSL/CM/1/4). |
