DescriptionSecretary's In Letters: Joshua TRIMMER, Dartford, 30 Apr 1853. Re: Is disappointed that the plan to have an Agricultural Department and Department of the Geology of the Surface which was to be associated with the Geological Survey has been abandoned, has instead offered his services to private landowners to supply agricultural maps similar to that created by William Smith for Sir John Johnstone's estate of Hackness; of the several applications he chose the estate of Sir Charles Elton of Clevedon Court, but one of the conditions is that the maps should be displayed at a number of organisations, requests permission to exhibit the maps at the Geological Society.
