DescriptionSecretary's In Letters: from Alexander ROBERTSON, Elgin, to William Lonsdale, 2 Mar 1841. Re: Forwarding drawings he has had made of the new forms of fossil fish found in the Old Red Sandstone around Elgin which are destined for Louis Agassiz, but thought the Society would like to see them first.
Administrative HistoryAccording to S M Andrews 'The discovery of fossil fishes in Scotland up to 1845', Royal Scottish Museum (1982), the majority of Robertson's drawings by Jonathan Stiven are mostly in the Agassiz Archives at Neuchatel, Switzerland. Three are held within the Society's Agassiz fish collection.

Joseph Dinkel, who is referenced in the letter, was Agassiz's main artist who was based in the Society's apartments at Somerset House.
