Description	Secretary's In Letters: from Charles NICHOLS, Clerk of the Geological Society, London, 5 April 1843. Re: asks for a pay rise in consideration of the duties he is required to fulfil.
Administrative History	Nichols was initially appointed in 1839 on a yearly salary of £75 which was raised (at his request) to £84 in 1840. This request saw his salary rising to £100 per annum.
