| Administrative History | In January 1832 William Lonsdale was awarded a year's dividend from the Wollaston Fund to survey the oolitic districts from the neighbourhood of Bath to the southern limits of Warwickshire and Oxfordshire. In 1836 he continued the survey northwards, eventually finishing at the River Humber. |
