Administrative History | In 1853, to reflect the additions to the Library's holdings, Council directed the Assistant Secretary and Librarian, Thomas Rupert Jones (Librarian between 1850-1862), to prepare a 'Supplemental Catalogue of Books and Maps', which included the contents of the Society's Portfolios of drawing and sections. Progress was slow, the supplement not being printed until 1856. A second 'Alphabetical Supplement to the Classified Catalogues of the Library' detailing the additional books and maps accessioned between 1854-1859 was issued in 1860 (which included the George Bellas Greenough bequest). The 'Third Supplement Catalogue of the Library' was published in 1863, listing the books and periodicals received between 1860-1862.
As in common with the the original printed catalogue of 1846, the published supplements do not contain locations. These were to be found in the catalogue indexes prepared alongside. |
