Description | Letter from Etheldred BENETT, finally sending a selection of fossils from Cain's Cross [now Cainscross] which she has long promised; believes she was the first person to declare Blackdown a mixed bed and although others examined it, little was thought about it until Dr [William Henry] Fitton published about it; also plans to send the Society London Clay fossils in the Great Oolite, describing them briefly but regretting that her health prevents her from researching them in detail; in the near future wants to send Faringdon fossils all of which come from Dr Fitton's Upper Green Sand, 16 April 1842. |
