DescriptionTwo diazo microfilm copies of the Geological Society Museum catalogues 'Recent Shells', compiled by Samuel P Woodward, 1859. The volumes are split into two: Recent Shells-univalves & Recent Shells-bivalves.
Administrative HistoryAccording to the explanation on volume one, the contents describe "Recent Shells and Types of Extinct Genera, Arranged (in 1859) by Samuel P Woodward. Esqr, author of the work entitled 'Manual of Mollusca', London 1851-1856. References are made in the Catalogue to the page in the above work where the shell is described. A copy is in the Library, which is not allowed to circulate. The Types of Extinct Genera are distinguished by an asterisk. This collection has been mainly formed by the donation in the year 1829 of the late Captain Apsley FGS. The names of other Donors are recorded."

Samuel P Woodward was sub-curator of the Museum between 1839-1845.
