Administrative History | At the turn of the 19th/20th century, use of the Museum has dwindled and an attempt in 1901 by a group of palaeontologist including F A Bather and F L Kitchin to pressurise Council to take better care of the collections backfired, with an amendment passed instead to dispose of the whole lot. However, the decision was postponed and the Rev Frederick John Blake prepared a new shelf list of the Museum at his own expense. This last ditch attempt at getting people to use the Museum resulted in a late flurry of interest in the collection. |
