Administrative History | According to the explanation on the first page of the volume, "This register was copied from the original by C Davies Sherborn, by Henry Blacklock Rowbotham, 1913. (Supplementary notes from p1000 copied by C P Chatwin). It begins at p575. Pp1-574 are of the registers to the British Collections which went to Jermyn Street. Dr A S Woodward agrees that it is not worth while to check every entry as an examination of many pages show their general accuracy, but CDS has added his notes made when originally registering the collection, in pencil. C Davies Sherborn, 2 March 1914."
Charles Davies Sherborn compiled the final, complete catalogue of the Museum between 1890-1900. This register, a partial copy of Sherborn's original, was designed for use in the Natural History Museum. Woodward was Keeper of Geology at the Natural History Museum. See: GSL/MUS/5/2/5 |
