DescriptionDigital photographs taken by the Archivist, June 2019, of Carboniferous specimens which were once held in the Geological Society's Museum, comprising:

1) Geol Soc Coll 5127-5128- Pecopteris heterphyllus (part and counterpart), Coal Measures, Kenton Colliery, Northumberland. Donated by Nathaniel John Winch.
2) GSd 3612 - Spirifer, Little Island, Cork, Ireland. Donated by Richard Griffith, 1839. [See: GSL/MUS/1/2/26 & GSL/MUS/1/2/26]
3) GSL 923 Woodcrinus macrodactylus de Koninck, Yorkshire.
4) Geol Soc Coll 5089 - Horsetail [Calamites cannaeformis Schlotheim], Leebotwood, south of Shrewsbury, Shropshire.
Administrative HistoryThe British material from the Society's old Museum is now held by the British Geological Survey. These specimens were borrowed back for a drawing event connected with the Year of Carbon.

The main references are the current BGS refs. The original Society Museum references are unknown.
