Sitters appear to be: Back row: Roderick Impey Murchison, Richard Owen, Henry Thomas De La Beche, Adam Sedgwick, Charles Lyell, possibly George Bellas Greenough. At the front, the figure on the left is probably John Phillips and on the right is William Buckland. At the back on the far right is William Smith and possibly John Taylor. The figure with the ear trumpet is unknown.
