| Administrative History | Formed c.November 1982, the working party's terms of reference was to enquire into the present state and future developments of the contribution made by British Institutions and Higher Education to the education and training of students of the geological sciences coming from countries outside Britain with special reference to the proposal for a policy contained in the document 'A Policy for Overseas Students'. From September 1980, the Government introduced full cost fees to overseas students and there was concern that this might damage British interests in the diplomatic and commercial fields. |
