DescriptionGeological colouring and key by George Bellas Greenough, [1820s] 'Carte des Europaeischen und eines Theils des Asiatischen Russischen Reichs...', by Iwan Danielow, published by T Mollo, 1812. Some of the colouring is after William Thomas Horner Fox Strangways' map of 1821 with notes, mineral symbols in Urals from the works of Benedikt Franz Johann von Hermann. Scale-1:2,800,000, 156cm x 136cm. Dissected on cloth. Greenough no.2387.
Administrative HistoryWilliam Thomas Horner Fox Strangways was a diplomat who was posted to St Petersburg between December 1816-June 1820.

The colouring uses sources predating Roderick Murchison's trip to Russia in the early 1840s, however there is one note referencing a section by Murchison.
