| Description | Black & white and colour photographs of David Meredith Seares Watson (1886–1973), father of Janet Watson, and his close family, 1907-1970s. Includes a photograph of DMS Watson's graduation from the University of Manchester in 1907 and as a young man in 1925; photographs of his mother (Mary) and father (David) and himself as a boy; and maternal grandfather Samuel M Seares, [1870s]. Also other photographs which may be images of either Watson and his sister Constance as children, two photographs of Llanfaglon Church where Contance Watson was buried after her sudden death in 1909. [Note: the images which may show Watson as a child are in the same format as photographs of Mary Watson so have been gathered together. Very few are identified so some could be from the branch of the Parker family.] |
| Provenance | Original donation in March 1993 from Mrs Betty Sutton, the widow and second wife of Professor John Sutton FRS (Janet Vida Watson was his first wife). Second accession from Mrs Betty Sutton, March 2012. A third accession comprising material given to the Geologists' Association from Betty Sutton was donated in April 2026. |
