DescriptionFile, containing mainly photocopies of contemporary documents, compiled in 1990, to aid the author Henry 'Hank' Frankel who was researching the history of plate tectonics. The letters, from individuals including Fred Vine, Teddy Bullard, Jason Morgan, David 'Dai' Davis and Walter H Munk cover the period from 1965-1970 and relate to the publication of McKenzie's seminal papers: "The North Pacific: an example of tectonics on a sphere", 'Nature', vol 216 (1967), pp1276-1280 [with Robert L Parker] and "The evolution of triple junctions", 'Nature', vol 224 (1969), pp125-133 [with Jason Morgan], and his academic employment in Britain and the US.

At the back of the file are copies of the above papers, photocopies of an extract of Euler's Theorem and copy of the photograph of McKenzie astride the San Andreas Fault from 1967 [see: LDGSL/1107/C/2/1].
