DescriptionLetter from Thomas WRIGHT, FGS, Cheltenham, 9 Oct 1884. Re: sends a lock of William Smith's hair, with stipulations on how it should be displayed.
Administrative HistoryAccording to the letter, the hair had been cut from William Smith's head by his niece 'Miss Phillips'. On her death it passed to her brother John Phillips (1800-1874), and on his decease it came into the possession of another relative, William Smith of Cheltenham. Smith of Cheltenham gave it to his friend Wright.
