Administrative HistoryWilliam Willoughby Cole, later the 3rd Earl of Enniskillen, was a student in Oxford at the time, attending the geological lectures of William Buckland. The fossil fish [Dapedium Politum] is the syntype of Dapedium colei, having been described and figured by Agassiz in his 'Recherches...' (1833-1844), vol 2, p195, pl xxv. Nathaniel Whittock was an artist who did work for the University of Oxford. The Ichthyosaur specimen is now held by the Natural History Museum ref: BM (NH) R.1072
