DescriptionWatercolour study of the tooth of the fossil fish Ctenodus alatus, by Joseph Dinkel, [1839-1844]. Found in the Coal Measures, Ardwick, Manchester, from the collection of Mr Mellor, Ardwick.

The drawing is annotated '...This is a freshwater limestone, from the Tope of Coal series near Ardwick near Manchester, and contains microconchys carbonari [the mollusk Microconchus carbonarius] - see Murchison's Silurian System.'
