DescriptionSmall watercolour sketch of the fossil fish Pterichthys Milleri, by Jonathan Stiven, Elgin, 1839. Found by the Reverend George Gordon in Clune, Nairnshire.

Caption in ink: 'Drawing 13 - Inferior division of the Old Red Sandstone. Upper surface of a small and probably distinct species. The centre bone is large.'

Caption in pencil: 'No.14, 15 & 16 in possession of Mr Lonsdale Plant[?]'. This caption is written over earlier notes which have been rubbed out. William Lonsdale was, until 1836, the Society's Museum Curator. From 1838 he acted as Librarian and Assistant Secretary.
