Administrative HistoryThe text states that Lord Francis Egerton had purchased the original artwork but left it in the hands of Agassiz until he no longer needed it for his publications. Referencing his visits to the collections of William Willoughby Cole, 3rd Earl of Enniskillen and Sir Philip de Malpas Egerton in 1835 and 1840, who had drawings made at their own expense, the text mostly focuses in the recent discoveries of Devonian fish and the acknowledgement of the activities of Lady Gordon Cumming and her daughter, Hugh Miller and the Rev John Fleming.
