Annotated 'Originales de Gazzola Tab 48 fig 3 Silury.' This is a reference to an engraving of the specimen appearing in Giovanni Serafino Volta's 'Ittiolitologia veronese del Museo Bozziano ora annesso a quello del Conte Giovambattista Gazola e di altri gabinetti di fossili veronesi' (1796), plate 48, figure 3 under 'Silurus ascita'.

Administrative HistoryCollected/drawn as part of the research for Louis Agassiz's 'Recherches sur les Poissons Fossiles' (1833-1843/1844).

The specimen is likely to be one of the items originally in the collection of the Museo Bozziano removed by Napoleon's army and taken to Paris, and which are now in the Museum d'Histoire Naturelle.
