Description | Watercolour study of a part and counterpart of a small, complete specimen of the fossil fish Atherina macrocephala Agassiz, by Joseph Dinkel, [?1833]. From the collection of Comte Giovambattista Gazola [in the Jardin des Plantes/Museum of Natural History, Paris].
Annotated 'Originales de Gazzola Tab 48 fig 3 Silury.' This is a reference to an engraving of the specimen appearing in Giovanni Serafino Volta's 'Ittiolitologia veronese del Museo Bozziano ora annesso a quello del Conte Giovambattista Gazola e di altri gabinetti di fossili veronesi' (1796), plate 48, figure 3 under 'Silurus ascita'.
