Description
Watercolour of a fragment (dorsal fin and scales) of the fossil fish Platygnathus jamesoni Agassiz [Holoptychius nobilissimus], by Joseph Dinkel, [1840-1845]. Found in Dura Den, Scotland. Ascribed both on the drawing and in the published text as being from the collection of Robert Jameson but found by the Rev John Anderson. However Mahala Andrews states this is a mistake and Anderson only sent it to Jameson for Agassiz to view.
