DescriptionWatercolour study of two jaws [one depicted from two different angles] from the fossil fish Eugnathus polyodon Agassiz, by Joseph Dinkel, [1834-1844]. Found in the Lias, Lyme Regis, from the collection of William Willoughby Cole, 3rd Earl of Enniskillen. The name of the species has been annotated later 'Platysiagum sclerocephalum Egerton'. Remains of a number in the corner.

Note: drawing references Agassiz, J L R, 'Recherches sur les Poissons Fossiles' (1833-1843/4), vol 2, part 2, p104, but was not published. Also references 'Memoirs of the Geological Survey...illustrative of British Organic Remains', Decade XIII'. London: Longman, Green, Longman and Roberts (1872), plate VI, however whilst the specimens are referenced the drawing was also not published.
