Administrative History | Drawing is marked 'unpublished', which indicates that it was likely to have been commissioned as part of Louis Agassiz's 'Recherches sur les Poissons Fossiles' (1833-1843/4). Philip de Malpas Egerton suggested that 'Aechmodus' be added as a prefix to the name of the fish, see: Egerton, P de M G. "Postscript to Palichthyologic Note, No. 4", 'Quarterly Journal of the Geological Society', vol 10 (1854), p367. |
