Description | Maps of the Thames Valley, annotated with geological lines, notes and colouring by Searles Valentine WOOD jnr, used as field maps during his research into glacial deposits in the south east of England, [1862-1867]. Base maps are Ordnance Survey, one inch (Old Series) quarter sheets no.1 (NE Chelmsford; NW Brentwood; SE Rochford; SW Romford). Dissected and mounted on linen.
Two of the maps have pencil thumbnail sections on reverse, one has tracings included. |
