Description | Maps of Essex, annotated with geological lines, notes and colouring by Searles Valentine WOOD jnr, used as field maps during research into glacial deposits in the south-east of England, [1862-1872]. Base maps are Ordnance Survey, one inch (Old Series) quarter sheets no.47 (NE Sudbury; SE Braintree). Dissected and mounted on linen.
One of the maps includes two letters from William Herbert Dalton of the Geological Survey regarding the loan of the maps and discussion over their contents, 1872. |
