DescriptionMurchison correspondence: letter from Rev George GORDON, Manse, Birnie, near Elgin, 14 Feb 1859. Re: thanks Murchison for sending him a copy of 'Siluria'; no tooth or skull amongst the 'debris at Findrassie' collected by the Elgin Museum, but has had limited access to the original quarry site; Directors of the Elgin Museum also plan an excavation at Lossiemouth in an attempt to find more of the 'huge reptile' [?Stagonolepis], encouraging Prof Huxley to visit if anything substantial is found; wonders if Telerpeton is the young of Stagonolepis; fossilised footprints at Cummingston and Covesea; labourers commissioned by Dr Taylor have found a Holoptychius scale at Pluscarden; Dr Malcolmson's papers.
