DescriptionMurchison correspondence: letter from Archibald GEIKIE, Newington, Edinburgh, 17 Feb 1860. Re: has heard from Andrew Crombie Ramsay that a new Chair of Geology at Edinburgh University is to be established and that it is likely to be offered to Professor Rogers of Glasgow; had hoped that the post would not have been created for a few years as it is his dream role; does not think that his health will allow him to continue much longer in the Survey, asks Murchison's advice if he should apply for the Edinburgh professorship.
