DescriptionMurchison correspondence: letter from Wilhelm von HAIDINGER, Vienna, 26 Aug 1852. Re: Expresses thanks that Count Colloredo has conveyed the 17 letters [of introduction?] to Baron Fridau and Haidinger has received copies of Murchison's address which he will distribute; his friend Fridau will repay Murchison's kindness by his scientific endeavours; is honoured to be asked to draw up a short account of their joint labours but must content themselves with using the maps of the military geographical institute; first copy of the map of Lower Austria complete and will be presented to His Majesty the Emperor; Upper Austria is next but the eastern alps will prove difficult, following von Buch's advice that error is better than doubt; problems with the Wiener Sandstein; lists recent authors who have published works on the palaeontology, botany and zoology of Austria, Bohemia and Silesia.
