Re: extensive collection of 'organic remains' belonging to Mr Sack of Bonn, the duplicates from which could be swapped with material at the Geological Society's Museum; forwards book by Von Meyer; preparing a memoir on the environs of Bonn for the Society; comments that he'd like a more speedy publication of the Society's papers but an octavo format would have to be adopted; progress of George Goldfuss' paper on putrefaction; Goldfuss' opinion of Etheldred Benett's book which she sent him; praise for Charlotte Murchison's geological work by Professor Hausmann and Dr Bunsen of Gottingen; Oxford Meeting of the British Association; meeting of the Society of German Natural Scientists in Vienna will probably be affected by the cholera outbreak; anxiously waiting to hear about Charles and Mary Lyell's (son-in-law and his daughter) arrival at Kinnordy.
