Re: Forwards his paper on the structure of coal ['Observations on Coal', Proceedings of the Geological Society, vol 1 (1834), pp415-417] to be read before the Society, and similarly to his previous paper wishes to 'withdraw it' for publication [for inclusion in the Transactions of the Natural History Society of Northumberland]; busy with the geology of Durham for Surtees' History [Robert Surtees 'History and antiquities of the County Palatine of Durham'], wonders if a paper on the coast section from the Tyne to the Tees to be of any interest to the Society or one on the accumulation of alluvial sand and gravel throughout the county; has heard nothing of his Whin Sill paper but requests that the map be returned, received a long letter from Adam Sedgwick who will answer his questions on the subject. |
