Description
Murchison correspondence: letter from John Gibson LOCKHART, Lancaster, 18 Jul 1837. Re: [Following the death of his wife] is not yet ready to return to society, but is keen to get into working habits again by copying Sir Walter Scott's manuscripts and letters; keen that Murchison give him the latest news when he is in town again about who will be the 'Queen's man'; is impressed with William Whewell's book 'The History of the inductive sciences, from the earliest to the present times' (1837).
