Description	Murchison correspondence: letter from Charles LYELL, London, 8 Apr 1861. Cannot make the Council Meeting that night, but argues that the President's idea that the Society returns the holding of its Evening Meetings to Somerset House is a mistake.
Administrative History	The Society began holding its scientific meetings at Burlington House in 1860 to increase access to the public and attendance by its Fellows.
