DescriptionMurchison correspondence: letter from Charles LYELL, Kinnordy, 5 Oct 1829. Re: just returned from Fife to study the coalfield with Fleming, correlating the age of formations in Velay, France, and Naples, Italy; criticizes Brongniart's latest book; keen that Murchison and Sedgwick encourage Deshayes to issue a 'Manual de Conchologie Fossiles' or at least one which covers the Tertiary, wants to gift Deshayes his collection of Neapolitan shells and assure him that he is not envious of his work; shocked at Conybeare's accident.
